The Leisure Time Centre Lužánky is a region school institution for leisure time activities of all age groups and social groups. It is the oldest institution of its art in the Czech Republic and at present it belongs to the biggest ones in our republic. In the season 2008/2009 Lužánky celebrates already 60 years of its existence.
It provides pedagogical, educational and recreational activities of children, young people and adults - it creates conditions for satisfaction of interests in all sorts of branches, from sport to art activities, from technics and science to socioscientific subjects.
You find SVČ Lužánky in 11 places in Brno at present. Except the primary "basic" building in Lidická street in the park Lužánky we also offer our activity in Lesná, Kraví hora, in Bohunice, Starý and Nový Lískovec, Kohoutovice, Žabovřesky and in Vinohrady. To the enumeration we still include the workplace in Slovinská street in Královo Pole and the tourist base Kozí horka near the Brno reservoir.
SVČ Lužánky is entrusted already the sixth year by the Council of the South Moravia region with the organization of all gradual competitions, shows and subject olympiads in the territory of the whole South Moravia region.
It also cooperates with Brno universities very closely, especially with JAMU and Masaryk University. SVČ Lužánky has an official statute of the Faculty School Institution of the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno.
Lužánky is an accredited sender and host organization for the European Voluntary Service. It is also a covering organization of the regional representation for the programme Youth in Action in the South Moravia region and Zlín region.
Nearly 10 000 participants find their programme in the hobby groups and classes every year. Ten-thousands of Brno people take part in competitions, concerts, courses, theatre performances, camps and meetings every year, as well as in educational programmes in ecology, drama, film and art sphere.
